WITNESS is the world's leading software product in the field of visual interactive simulation. In Witness we can model, simulate and optimise Discrete event processes, like manufacturing plant processes, supply chain & logistics etc. More than 6500 licenses have been sold worldwide across all industry sectors. The system is also widely used within education.
Fast, productive predictive simulation desktop software for professional modelling and application development.
Consistently the most flexible, powerful, proven process simulation technology in the world, Lanner's desktop modelling studio, WITNESS Horizon, enables professional modellers to rapidly develop feature rich models and simulation apps that provide unparalleled insight through dynamic data visualisation and freedom to test choices in a risk free virtual environment.
Discrete Event and Continuous Modelling
Combine continuous flows with discrete events within models to address a wide range of business problems in the most efficient and appropriate way possible. Continuous elements enable the modelling of processes that include fluids flowing through pipes or tanks and situations where high volumes of parts pass through processes at speed which can be more easily represented as fluid flows.
2D and 3D Modelling Environment
Design your model layout and develop logic efficiently in a 2D plan view before switching to stunning 3D visualisation at the touch of a button. WITNESS Quick3D™ is powered by Virtalis Visionary Render to deliver an exceptional immersive model experience and virtual reality performance.
Interfaces for Data Driven Modelling
With open connectivity to common data sources including files (Microsoft Excel, CSV, CAD, etc), databases and cloud services, users can use live organisation data or ‘big data’ streams to drive model creation, initialisation or experimentation.
Simple, Powerful Logic Coding
Embedded Business Intelligence
Get to the heart of model insights and communicate answers stakeholder questions through inbuilt charts and reports that make WITNESS the ideal predictive analytics platform for business transformation. Easily export simulation data for external analysis in your favourite BI tools.
WITNESS models: A WITNESS model consists of a collection of WITNESS elements, together with the control logic (rules and actions) that ensure that the model performs in the same way as a real-life system. Some of Witness elements are;
Physical elements: WITNESS provides elements that represent tangible objects:
·Elements that move through the model, being processed (parts and fluids).
·Elements that transport parts and fluids (conveyors, track, vehicles, carriers, paths and pipes).
·Elements that store parts and fluids (buffers and tanks).
·Elements that process parts and fluids (machines and processors).
Logical elements: WITNESS also provides elements that represent intangible objects:
·Elements that represent shift patterns (shifts).
·Elements that provide statistical variation (distributions).
·Elements that provide a source of data outside the model (files).
·Elements that are referenced in the model's control logic (variables, attributes and functions).
Finally, WITNESS provides elements that enhance the presentation of the model and supply information about the state of the model while it is running:
WITNESS incorporates statistical data in the form of distributions. WITNESS provides a set of distributions that return random samples.
There are 3 integer distributions, (such as a quantity of parts): BINOMIAL, IUNIFORM and POISSON.
There are 11 real distributions, (such as a time or a measurement): BETA, ERLANG, GAMMA, LOGNORML, NEGEXP, NORMAL, RANDOM, TNORMAL,
TRIANGLE, UNIFORM and WEIBULL.
You can create your own distribution too.
What is Predictive Simulation?
Today’s businesses are facing increasingly difficult and complex decisions. Markets are changing constantly, competition is fierce, and customers are demanding creative and technical innovation as well as high service levels. Add to this the rise of digitisation, the Internet of Things (IoT) and servitisation of products, businesses are being driven to explore new operating models that embrace connectivity, data analytics and evolving customer expectations.
Predictive simulation simplifies this complexity. By creating a predictive digital twin of your business model, the technology provides businesses with future state data, demystifying much of the analytical process by providing an interactive visual experience. This helps both analysts and business decision-makers understand their processes, data and how they affect one another and ultimately how change with affect their future. Predictive simulation helps both analysts and decision-makers understand their business processes, data and how they affect one another.
